Goal – To get your dog to use their noses to search and find hidden treats in the tree bark of the tree
Possible Cues to Use – “Find it” “Seek it” “Get it”
Criteria –
-
Start off with an easy search, let your dog see you place a treat on the bark directly in front of them, give them their cue and let them have a few ‘easy’ finds.
-
Start to slowly increase the difficulty, always give the one ‘easy’ find and then start to increase the criteria ie putting the treats higher and lower.
-
Increase difficulty and Impulse Control by getting your dog in a sit stay and making them wait whilst you ‘set up the search tree’ and then release them to search. You can also set them up in a Sit or Down stay further and further away from the tree which increases the difficulty even further.
