Goal – To get your dog to use their noses to search and find hidden treats in the tree bark of the tree

Possible Cues to Use – “Find it” “Seek it” “Get it”

Criteria

  1. Start off with an easy search, let your dog see you place a treat on the bark directly in front of them, give them their cue and let them have a few ‘easy’ finds.

  2. Start to slowly increase the difficulty, always give the one ‘easy’ find and then start to increase the criteria ie putting the treats higher and lower.

  3. Increase difficulty and Impulse Control by getting your dog in a sit stay and making them wait whilst you ‘set up the search tree’ and then release them to search. You can also set them up in a Sit or Down stay further and further away from the tree which increases the difficulty even further.
